Frequently asked questions
Is the Subprofessional exam easier than the Professional exam?
Not officially. Subprofessional is shorter and replaces Analytical Ability with Clerical Ability, but the shared subjects and the 80.00 passing general rating apply to both. Which feels easier depends on your strengths.
Can I use Subprofessional eligibility for a second-level position?
No. Subprofessional eligibility is appropriate only for first-level (clerical) positions. A vacancy that requires Professional eligibility will not accept Subprofessional.
Can I take Professional after passing Subprofessional?
Yes. The qualification rules bar retaking a level you already passed, but Professional is a different level. You still need to meet the other qualifications, including the three-month rule.
How long is the Professional exam compared with Subprofessional?
Professional test proper runs 3 hours 10 minutes for 150 scored items. Subprofessional runs 2 hours 40 minutes for 145 scored items. Plan to be on site longer, since pre- and post-exam activities take roughly an hour each.
