The night before is for logistics and a calm brain, not for becoming a new scholar. Cramming a Constitution at 1 a.m. mostly trains you to be tired in Numerical.
Independent advice. Pack lists, IDs, and room details come from CSC’s current Examinee’s Guide / advisories, not from this blog’s memory. Use our exam day guide as a study aid, then check the official PDF.
Pack from the official list, then stop opening tabs
Lay out documents and materials the Commission named for this cycle. If you are unsure, that is a CSC question, not a Facebook one. Do not add folklore (“bring extra copies of everything just in case” might be fine; “this ID type is secretly OK” is how people get turned away). No I.D., no exam is a real theme in advisories — verify the accepted types on the current announcement.
Light retrieval only
30 minutes max: flashcards you already know, or five GI facts from memory. No new topic. No “let me just understand Analytical tonight.” That is panic in a costume.
If you must open this site, open your error log, not a new article.
Sleep is the last review session
Set an alarm you trust. Skip the third mock. Skip the group chat. A tired brain misreads “except” in Verbal and drops zeros in Numerical. You cannot out-highlight cortisol.
Morning of
Eat what your stomach already knows. Arrive with margin for traffic — room assignment is an official process (exam day points you at CSC, not at our guess). Phone policies are CSC/proctor rules. Follow them.
If you cannot sleep
Do not stack coffee and items. Write the three-pass plan on paper (time management), then a boring audio or nothing. Lying still counts as trying.
What belongs in the bag vs what belongs in your head
Bag: whatever the current CSC list says. Head: the three-pass plan, not a new mnemonic for Article II. If you forgot a GI fact tonight, you will not securely install it at 1 a.m. You will install tiredness. Trust the work you already did. If you did not do the work, tonight cannot ethically invent it — sleep anyway, sit the process, then build a real plan after.
If you are sitting with a friend or sibling
Do not quiz each other on new GI at 11 p.m. Pack, confirm meeting time, stop talking about items. Anxiety is contagious in hallways. Agree on a boring phrase: “Process, not prophecy.”
If you forgot an official document? That is a CSC/reporting problem. Do not invent a substitute ID from a blog comment. Check the current accepted list now — in daylight — not from memory at midnight.
If you cannot eat? Eat a small familiar thing. Test morning is not the day you discover a new milk tea.
Exam day guide then official PDF.
A 40-minute evening, minute by minute
0–10 pack from the official list. 10–20 light retrieval of known cards only. 20–25 write three-pass plan. 25–40 stop CSE, shower, alarm. If a relative starts a pop quiz, decline. You are not rude. You are protecting Numerical tomorrow.
If packing reveals a missing ID type, that is tonight’s only emergency, and the answer is official text, not a Facebook poll.
Do this on a random Tuesday, not only the real night before
Pack a dummy bag from the official list once, early, so the real night is a check, not a scavenger hunt. Practice the 40-minute evening while the stakes are low. If you only rehearse packing in your head, you will discover missing paper at 11 p.m. Exam day.
Morning-of: what still counts, and what is already too late
The morning is for logistics and a familiar stomach, not for a new mnemonic. Eat something you have eaten on a workday. Leave earlier than pride wants. If you remember a GI gap while putting on shoes, write it on a scrap if it calms you, then throw the scrap away before you enter the room — you will not securely install a charter article in a tricycle.
Do not open a 50-item mixed set at 5 a.m. That is how people walk into reporting with a fresh panic number. If you need a ritual, use the short anxiety one: water, two breaths, “harvest first.” That is it.
If a companion wants to quiz you in line, decline. Hallway quizzes are not retrieval practice. They are contagious arousal. You already packed from the official list. You already have a three-pass plan. Trust the boring evening you ran on a Tuesday. Exam day is for process. Official PDFs are for the list of what you may bring.
Honest limits
We will not list 21 ID types here as if this page were the announcement. We will not tell you the next exam’s reporting time. Those expire. Official PDFs do not.
Next: After the exam, rest. When you are ready to study again, second take or skills work without a date.
