Two numbers get mashed together in every CSE group chat: 80.00 and whatever a reviewer app printed. They are not the same species. Mixing them is how people either quit or get cocky.
CSE Mock Exam Reviewer is not CSC. Our percent is an in-product accuracy (and related analytics). CSC’s passing general rating of 80.00 is described in Commission materials — see the sourced passing score guide (verified against the 2026 CSE-PPT announcement language). We still do not compute your future GR from a mock.
What 80.00 is
It is CSC’s passing general rating on their formula for the exam they administer. It is not “get 80% of our 40-item diagnostic.” It is not a promise about our 1,900+ item bank. If you need the primary-source wording, open the guide and the PDF it cites. Re-verify when a new announcement lands.
What a mock percent is
A snapshot of how you handled this set, this timer, these original items. Useful for:
- Unanswered count
- Topic leaks
- Whether you still panic at item 30
Useless for:
- Telling your relatives you already passed
- Telling yourself you are doomed

Why the numbers will not match even if you “did well”
Different items. Different length. Different scoring. Different stress. Our subtest mix is editorial. CSC’s operational scoring is theirs. Aligning them in your head is a category error, like comparing a gym 5K to a race chip time and then to a medical VO2 max.
How to use the mock number anyway
Track it like gym weight: same instrument, over time, after similar sleep. If unanswered drops and a leak topic rises, the plan is working even if the headline percent wiggles. If percent is high but you guessed 20 blanks in the last three minutes, the process is still sick.
Readiness scores in-product
If you use our Readiness metric, read what it is. It is a product construct with gates. It is not CSC.
Why coaches and relatives mash the numbers
80.00 is a round, famous threshold. Mock percents are also round. Brains love mapping famous to famous. Resist. If you need a family-safe sentence: “CSC’s passing GR is 80.00 on their formula. This app percent is practice accuracy.” Repeat until they stop asking you to convert. If a paid coach converts them for you as a sales move, ask for the primary-source scoring document. We cite CSC for 80.00 and still refuse the conversion.
How to log mocks without building a cult of the number
Keep a table: date, unanswered, two leak topics, sleep hours, percent. Sort your decisions by unanswered and leaks. Percent is the noisy column. If unanswered falls from 12 to 3, the plan is working even if percent wiggles because the second set was harder original items.
Can I average three mocks to predict GR? No. Different instruments. Averaging gym numbers does not become a race chip.
Should I hide percent from family? You can share the leak topics instead. That is the useful sentence.

What to tell yourself after 61% and after 89%
After 61%: list unanswered and two topics. That is the assignment. Not “I am below 80 so I am a fail.” After 89%: list whether you guessed a pile at the end and whether sleep was honest. High percent with chaos process is a fragile high.

Do this tonight (numbers)
If you have an old result screenshot, write beside it: unanswered, two topics, sleep. Cross out the instinct to circle only the percent. Put the sourced 80.00 guide in the same note as a reminder that GR is CSC’s. Then drill a leak for 20 minutes. Theology is not a session.
A family-safe sentence you can reuse until it is boring
“CSC’s passing general rating is 80.00 on their formula. This app number is practice accuracy on original items. I am using it to pick two leak topics, not to predict the list.” If they keep converting, you can stop. You do not owe a translation table that does not exist.
Log mocks as: date, unanswered, two topics, sleep, then percent last. If unanswered drops and leaks get drills, the plan is working while percent wiggles. Wiggle is what happens when the next set is harder or you slept four hours. It is not CSC publishing your GR early. Honest limits
Anyone who sells “this mock is calibrated to 80.00 GR” is overselling. We will not. Take the free diagnostic for a leak map, not for a prophecy.
